Microneedling is used to treat and improve a variety of skin care conditions, including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, loose or sagging skin, stretch marks and pigment issues. At Open Care Community, we use the Acu-Micro pen and utilize acupuncture points to reduce discomfort. Microneedling causes micro-traumas, which promote healing and collagen and elastin production. Microneedling increases serum absorption by up to 3000%, leaving your skin glowing long after treatment.
Microneedling is recommended every four to five weeks, and while results vary, they can last for years. Patients can pair microneedling with facial acupuncture for optimal results, or use microneedling as a stand-alone procedure.
Microneedling leaves the face slightly red and tingly for 12-24 hours - it can feel a lot like a mild sunburn. Patients should stay out of the sun for 24 hours after microneedling and avoid activities that produce a lot of sweat for around 24 hours as well.

Facial Cupping and Gua Sha are great for people who want to up their glow but don’t like needles. The benefits of these treatments include increased local circulation, increased blood flow to the face and lymphatic drainage.
Each session includes facial cupping and gua sha and lasts between 20-30 minutes. Facial and Gua Sha appointments can be stand-alone treatments or done between microneedling sessions.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation works in a similar way to microneedling. Both modalities are used to treat and improve a variety of skin care conditions, including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, loose or sagging skin, stretch marks and pigment issues. However, with an acupuncture facial, we utilize very small needles to treat the face, instead of a microneedling pen.
During an acupuncture facial, your practitioner will use facial points as well as body points. The body points are the heavy-hitters when it comes to treating the internal conditions that manifest on your skin. Acupuncture facial sessions also include facial cupping and gua sha.
Acupuncture facials can be done as often as once a week, and can be paired with microneedling for optimal results.
